How ordering works

Four Steps. No RFP.

The Operational Services Division (OSD) already ran the competitive bid. Here's what's left for you.

  1. Step 1: Confirm You're Eligible

State agencies and authorities, cities and towns, K-12 districts, public libraries, and public colleges and universities can all buy. Not sure about your organization? Ask Mark. He'll tell you in one email.

  2. Step 2: Request a Quote

Under $10,000, quotes are at your discretion. At $10,000 and above, PRF88 asks you to collect at least three. Ours comes back formatted for your file.

  3. Step 3: Issue a Purchase Order Against PRF88

Use Category 1 for Over-the-Phone Interpretation (OPI) and Video Remote Interpretation (VRI), Category 3 for document translation, or both on one purchase order.

  4. Step 4: Get Your Team Set Up

We open your account on Connexus™ by Piedmont Global, our interpretation platform, give your staff a toll-free number, and train them on when and how to call. No equipment and no software to install.

What your staff get

An Interpreter on the Line Before the Resident at the Counter Gives Up

With Connexus, staff reach a qualified interpreter by phone or video, on demand or scheduled ahead, from a browser or a toll-free number. Phone interpretation runs 24/7. Video runs 24/7 for ASL and Spanish; for other languages, video depends on interpreter availability, and phone is the backup.

Under 15-Second Average Connect Time

<15s

PRF88 sets a 30-second average connect standard (OSD Contract User Guide). Ours is less than half that.

Matched by Language, Specialty & Preference

Requests route by language, certification, specialty, and gender preference. American Sign Language (ASL) runs over video on the same platform, for board meetings and disability services appointments alike.

Queue Position & Wait Estimates

Staff see their place in the queue and an estimated wait before they commit to a call.

Translation Portal

Upload documents, track status, and download finished files: public notices, benefit letters, signage, and enrollment packets.

What your compliance lead gets

Audit-Ready From the First Call

When someone asks whether your organization provided language access, you'll have the record. Every Connexus session creates a timestamped entry with interpreter credentials, language pair, and minutes. Export it for auditors, grant reports, and Title VI reviews.

Title VI, ADA, Section 504 & Executive Order 615 Support

  • Title VI
  • ADA
  • Section 504
  • Executive Order 615
  • ESSA Title III
  • LOOK Act

Helps you meet obligations your organization already carries: national origin nondiscrimination under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, effective communication under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and, for executive branch agencies, the Language Access Plans required by Massachusetts Executive Order 615. For districts, it supports family engagement for English learners under Title III of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), plus parent notification and English Learner Parent Advisory Councils under the Massachusetts Language Opportunity for Our Kids (LOOK) Act.

CORI & SORI Background Checks

Interpreters clear Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) and Sex Offender Registry Information (SORI) checks, which matters when the call is with a student or a family.

Credentials on File for Every Session

Each interpreter profile carries specialization tags and credential documentation.

Security Your IT Team Can Vet

ISO 27001:2022 certified and HIPAA-compliant, with a 99.5% platform uptime guarantee. SSO/SCIM ready, with single sign-on and user provisioning configured for your identity provider during implementation.

Who it serves

Serving Massachusetts Public Services

State Agencies & Authorities

Benefit and eligibility calls, hearings, and forms and notices in the languages your constituents read. Reporting by department, so each program sees its own usage.

K-12 Districts

Individualized Education Program (IEP) and Section 504 meetings, parent-teacher conferences, enrollment and registration, and calls from the nurse's office. Interpreters are CORI and SORI cleared. Translate report cards, handbooks, and district notices through the portal.

Cities & Towns

Permit and clerk counters, public health outreach, council meetings, and emergency notices. One contract covers every department that talks to residents.

Public Libraries

Reference desk questions, English as a Second Language (ESL) and citizenship programs, library card sign-ups, and ASL for events.

Public Higher Education

Admissions, financial aid, family orientation, and ASL through disability services. Translate recruitment materials for multilingual families.

Rollout & training

A Contract in a Drawer Doesn't Help Anyone

A language contract can fail without anyone noticing. The purchase order gets signed, the toll-free number goes in a binder, and the front desk keeps relying on a bilingual coworker or a phone app because nobody showed them another way.

Piedmont Global approaches language access as a partnership, so signing is where our work starts. Every PRF88 customer gets a dedicated account lead and staff training on how to request an interpreter or a translation, and on when and why it matters. The goal is the one on our flyer: stronger school outcomes, better health literacy, and more residents taking part in the programs you already run.

What Rollout Includes

  1. Live training for front-line staff, by department or site.
  2. Quick-reference materials with your toll-free number and access steps.
  3. Usage reports by team.
  4. Mark as your one point of contact for the duration of our partnership.

Per-minute, usage-based billing. You pay only for the minutes you use. PRF88 rates are fixed for the full contract term with no annual escalation.

The Contract's in Place. Is Your Team Ready?

A contract only works once staff know how to use it. Until then, the resident at the counter still waits. Get a PRF88 quote this week and have your team trained before the next benefits call, council meeting, or parent conference.
