Challenge

Northshore School District (NSD) is a public school district in Washington state serving over 20,000 students, including more than 600 Spanish-speaking families.

With an upcoming bond levy vote expected to be extremely tight, the district’s communications department created a video explaining the levy and how it would impact their community of learners. The video was produced in English and distributed to English-speaking families.

Given the importance of the vote, NSD recognized the need to ensure that Spanish-speaking families had equal access to the information and the opportunity to engage and support the bond levy.

Solution

Piedmont Global received the original English-language video and provided end-to-end localization services. The team transcribed the video content, translated it into Spanish, added Spanish subtitles, and worked with several Spanish voice actors to create a fully localized version of the video.

This approach ensured that the message was not only translated, but culturally and linguistically accessible to Spanish-speaking families within the district.

Results

The project was very well received by the district, and the Spanish-speaking community showed strong engagement with the content. Many families responded positively to the district in support of the bond levy.

While the project cost only a few hundred dollars, the impact of this engagement strategy will be felt by families across the district for years to come. This case study demonstrates the power of community engagement and highlights Piedmont Global’s role as a conduit for meaningful family and community connection.

“This video highlights voices from throughout our school communities reflecting on what the funding means for our schools.”
